Carlisle PA – The Borough of Carlisle and the Downtown Carlisle Association (DCA) announced the scheduling of the Mid-State’s Largest Community Independence Fireworks Show. “Stars Burst Over Carlisle Fireworks & Festival, sponsored by Orrstown Bank” will launch from the Carlisle Fairgrounds on Wednesday, July 3 from 4 pm to 10 pm.

The new festival will host over 10,000 guests with live entertainment, food trucks, a Carlisle-centric craft beer and wine garden, giant children’s area with inflatables, and great family-fun for everyone.  The night will end with a 25-minute fireworks show, choreographed to a soundtrack of country & rock Americana music that can only be heard in the fairgrounds.  Entry into the fairgrounds will be $5 per car and $1 per walk-in.

Among other sponsors, Orrstown Bank took the highest sponsorship level this year to celebrate and give back to the community as they celebrate their 100th Anniversary. “This is an exciting year for Orrstown Bank as we celebrate our 100th anniversary, and what better way to celebrate than with fireworks,” said Jeff Gayman, Market President for Orrstown Bank.  “Giving back to the communities we serve is core to our mission and we are honored to help bring this event to our friends and neighbors in the Carlisle area.”

Starting at 4 pm the festival will open with multitude of food trucks, a large children’s area full of inflatables and activities, and a beer & wine garden.  Live music from modern bluegrass band Colebrook Road will start at 5 pm, and country favorites, Cold Springs Union at 7 pm.  DJ’s will play dance and country line dancing music in between sets.

Carlisle Craft Beer & Wine Garden
The Carlisle Craft Alliance, a group of local breweries, distilleries and other craft producers, will be on-site to sell beer, cider and wine, as well as promote the exploding craft beverage market in Carlisle.  “We have a great group of craft producers in Carlisle all making great products.  We are very excited to be a part of this event,” said Chad Kimmel, owner of Grand Illusion Hard Cider.   Along with Grand Illusion, Molly Pitcher Brewing, Market Cross Pub, Burd’s Nest Brewing Co., Desperate Times Brewing Co., and Castlerigg Wine Bar will be on-site.

Children’s Area
Atomic Bounce from York County will produce a large Children’s Area with a multitude of inflatables, slides, activities, face-painting, and games.  Atomic Bounce works with the DCA during Harvest of the Arts, and August First Friday, for children’s entertainment.

Live Music
Keeping with the Summerfaire tradition of great music, the ever popular Tractor Twang line dancing will entertain the masses from 4 pm – 5:30 pm and again 7 pm to 7:45 pm.

Colebrook Road, will take the stage at 5:30 pm. Winners of the 2016 D.C. Bluegrass Union’s Mid Atlantic Bluegrass band contest in Washington D.C., among many another awards,  Colebrook Road has become a standout string band, a bluegrass powerhouse made up of five individuals whose sum is more than the total of their talents.

Cold Springs Union will perform at 7:45 pm.  Starting in late 2018, various members of local country and American rock bands started to join and form Cold Springs Union, one of the region’s best bands, playing the regions largest clubs and opening for national acts.  This band was designed to remain true to its roots of Americana and country music, and breathe new life into American Rock & Roll.  It is a show you won’t want to miss!

The fireworks show will be the largest in Carlisle’s history, and will be the largest community funded show in the mid-state.

The 25-minute show will start at 9:35 pm and launch over 8,200 pyrotechnics shells and cannons into the sky.  New this year is a music soundtrack that will be broadcast from the Carlisle Events fairgrounds stage and be choregraphed to the fireworks overhead.

Mayor Scott proclaimed, “We are very excited to celebrate Orrstown Bank’s 100th Anniversary with them and their Mayor’s Circle sponsorship, but there are still critical donors who stepped up and made this happen including:  Eckert Seamans, Don Mowery, Tuckey Company, The Carlisle Sentinel, Carlisle Eagles Post 1299, Tree of Life Church, CAM-TEK Systems, Red 102.3, and the Downtown Carlisle Association.  A big thank you goes to our Host Sponsor, Carlisle Events and Bill & Lance Miller who allow this event to happen on their property.”

Ever year the Downtown Carlisle Association and Borough solicit corporate sponsorships to pay for the fireworks.  These sponsorships come with marketing and advertising incentives at the fireworks and other DCA downtown events.

The Borough has been teaming with the Downtown Carlisle Association the past three years to help develop the event, secure sponsorships, advertising, production and public safety measures.  “We are always eager to help boost the awareness of what Carlisle has to offer.  This is a great way to allow the Borough to tap event production resources it already has access through the DCA, without causing undo burden on other borough agencies,” said Glenn White, Executive Director of the Downtown Carlisle Association.

Rain date for the fireworks will be July 4 at 9:35 pm.  Any cancellation will be announced at
7:00 pm the day of the fireworks.
