The Downtown Carlisle Association unveiled plans for the UPMC Pinnacle August First Friday.  Friday, August 3, from 5 pm – 8 pm, Kids Night Out, sponsored by F& M Trust, will host downtown wide activities, crafts, specials, inflatables and fun for families to enjoy.

“Kids Night Out has always been our largest First Friday.  It is a great, and affordable way for families to explore and enjoy downtown as many things are free.” Stated Glenn White, Executive Director of the DCA.

Kids activities will be scattered throughout downtown.  Atomic Bounce will be onsite with two 2 large inflatables, balloon twisting, spin art, and a basketball shoot out.

1 BIG PAGE Coloring Book Paint Party. Imagine a 6 x 20 ft vinyl banner with an outlined scene which kids can paint like a large coloring book page. Project allows kids to take part in creating a mural sized art project.  The image will be completed by local artist, Chris Varner, and feature a family friendly scene. Acrylic paint will be provided as well as brushes, cups, water, etc.

The Cumberland County Historical Society will be offering a kids musical with host Ray Owen.  Located in the new pocket park on the first block of North Pitt Street, the musical will also offer free refreshments.

Hanover St. –  Hosting PA Guild glass and jewelry artist Carlee Seele for a trunk show and demonstration. Refreshments will be served, and our fun photo-op board will be on the sidewalk.
Market Cross Pub – 113 N. Hanover St. – Entertainment: touring band from New England.
Carlisle area Family Life Center – 155 N. Hanover – Free Brusters Ice Cream and Pictures with a Disney Princess

Whistlestop Bookshop – 129 W. High Street – Checkout new titles in Kids Corner area, Extended hours until 8 pm.

Italian Street Painting by Fran Piper – 22 West Pomfret St. – Interactive Italian Street painting. Kids can interact with the painting and have their picture taken

Also, being celebrated Friday evening is the US Army War College Welcome Jam.  Live music from Central Pennsylvania legends, Pentagon will fill downtown as they perform at the corner of Hanover and High Streets.  The DCA will also offer a free gift certificate to the first 50 war college students who check in at the registration tent, along with an opportunity to win more gift certificates by completing a scavenger hunt designed to acclimate the new Carlisle residents to the variety of downtown stores and restaurants.

“As we are seeing more and more families with children be assigned to the War College, combining the Kids Night Out and Welcome Jam seemed to be a great idea for the evening.” Stated Glenn White.
