Santa Comes To Town December 1 – 2 In Downtown Carlisle PA

 

Santa Comes to Town is a 2 day event with numerous events, activities, shopping and dining in the gorgeous historic downtown Carlisle PA.  The festivities start with the Downtown Carlisle “Light Up The Night” Christmas Parade on Friday December 1st at 7pm and continues through Saturday afternoon with fun for the entire family.

 

TUTTO BAMBINO FAMILY NIGHT – BEFORE THE PARADE
Friday December 1, 2017  4pm to 7pm

Join us before the Carlisle Christmas Parade to warm up with a hot coco station – full of delicious add-ins! Come anytime between 4p-7p! We will also have a kids craft, chair massages by Therapia Massage, & holiday mini sessions by Kate Greenawalt Photography.
The event itself is free! Enjoy the craft & hot coco on us!
Chair Massages: $1 per minute
Holiday Minis: $30 – claim your time with Kate Greenawalt Photography
The parade is at 7pm, plan to grab your spot on the street between 6pm-7pm! Guarantee your spot and park in the communal lot (Post Office Lot) near our business!

 

“LIGHT UP THE NIGHT” CHRISTMAS PARADE
Friday December 1, 2017 – 7 p.m.

Sponsored by F&M Trust, the parade will include marching units, marching bands, floats, auto units and fire trucks parading through Historic Downtown Carlisle on Hanover Street. Santa will conclude the parade and join the public on the town square for the annual Christmas Tree Lighting, Caroling and Pictures with Santa. Cost: Free.

 

PICTURES WITH SANTA

Veteran’s Courtyard on the Town Square at High and Hanover Streets
Friday December 1st after the Christmas Parade. The line will close at 8pm
Saturday December 2nd from Noon to 4pm
Located next to the Christmas tree on the square, Santa will be “at his house” for photos after the parade on Friday evening. The line to wait for a photo will be open until 8pm and Santa will stay until the line is finished. Santa will be at his house again on Saturday from Noon to 4pm  to take Christmas lists from good little boys and girls. Children and parents can have their photo taken with Santa.  Revelation Photography takes the digital photos and the DCA will then print and mail you a copy with a special holiday card. You are more than welcome to use your own camera or phone to take pictures. Cost: Free

 

TREE LIGHTING, CAROLING AND THE U.S. ARMY BAND

Veteran’s Courtyard on the Town Square at High and Hanover Streets
Friday December 1st following the Christmas Parade
Arriving at Veteran’s Memorial Park on the square in a “sleigh” after the parade, Santa will be joined by members of Borough Council, DCA representatives, and multitudes of children and their parents to see the lighting of the downtown Christmas tree. Santa will light the official town tree along with 8 other trees in the surrounding courtyard.  Join your community in singing Christmas Carols and sipping hot chocolate. The US Army Band has made the journey to Carlisle just for you to enjoy!  Cost: Free

 

FREE SHOWING – “HOME ALONE”

Bring the family and enjoy a free movie. Thank you to Sprint for sponsoring this movie so it could be free of charge to the community! Prizes awarded after the movie.

 

CARRIAGE, SLEIGH AND WAGON RIDES

Benchfield Farms is slated to offer carriage, sleigh and wagon rides (weather permitting) on:
Friday, December 1                After parade approx. 7:30pm – 9 pm (not with Santa)
Friday, December 8                6 pm – 9 pm (with Santa)
Friday, December 15              6 pm – 9 pm (with Santa)
Friday, December 22              Private Carriage or Sleigh Rides Only – Cost $25. By reservation only.

Saturday, December 2            10am – 4pm (Not with Santa)
Saturday, December 9            5 pm – 9 pm (with Santa)
Saturday, December 16          5 pm – 9 pm  (with Santa)
Saturday, December 23          Private Carriage or Sleigh Rides Only – Cost $25. By reservation only.
Sunday, December 24            Private Carriage & Sleigh Rides – $50 for approximately a 20 minute ride. By reservation only.

Wagon rides will cost $5 for Adults, $3 Children Ages 6 -12, children 5 and under are free.  Private Carriage and Sleigh rides will cost $25.00 per ride; reservations are not required, but recommended. Enjoy Saturday morning donuts, coffee and juice with Santa at the Bosler Library from 9 am – 11 am on Saturday, December 2nd.  Enter in the back of the library to the Community Room where Santa will be on hand to discuss wish lists for all.  Sponsored by Bimbo Bakery this hometown activity will be something to be remembered for years to come. Cost: Free.

The Whistlestop Bookshop will be the location on Saturday, December 2nd at 1 pm for Storytelling with Mrs. Claus.  Everyone can gather around for storybook time with some holiday classics including “Twas the Night Before Christmas.” Cost: Free.

 

 

ANNUAL SHOWING OF WHITE CHRISTMAS

Gather around for our annual heartwarming holiday event! The 1945 classic, this time with lyrics embedded on screen. Featuring songs such as “The Best Things Happen When You’re Dancing,” “Snow,” “Sisters” and, of course, the iconic “White Christmas.” Adults $8, Senior Citizens $7 and Children $4.

 

PROJECT C.A.R.E.S. ANNUAL WREATH AUCTION

First Presbyterian Church (courtyard on the square)

Local businesses and community partners are encourages to participate in this fundraiser by simply donating a decorated wreath for purchase in a silent auction fundraiser. The wreaths or trees (four foot and under) can be all shapes, sizes, colors and themes – feel free to get creative!! This is a great opportunity to engage with the community and those in need this holiday season!

Drop off decorated wreaths by Monday November 27 to the CARES Resource Center at 50 West Penn Street.

Wreaths will be on display in Carlisle CARES lobby and on Facebook for early bidding Nov 27 – Dec 1.

The Silent Auction is Saturday Dec 2 from 10am to 1pm at the First Presbyterian Church courtyard on the square.

Winners announced at the end of the event and wreaths may be picked up until 1:30pm.

The Downtown Carlisle Association is a volunteer community main street development organization that markets and promotes the assets of Downtown Carlisle for the benefit of shopping, tourism, business recruitment, and economic development.  Through various tourism events, downtown beautification initiatives, retail recruitment and downtown residential revitalization, we make Downtown a great place to live, work, shop & play!
